Ryokan in Arima Onsen

Arima Onsen is a hot spring town in Kita ward, Kobe, and one of the three oldest in Japan — its tourist association calls it the oldest of all. Two waters rise here: kinsen, the gold spring, brown with iron and salt, and ginsen, the silver spring, clear and carrying either carbon dioxide or radon. Between them they hold seven of the nine therapeutic components the Ministry of the Environment recognises, all drawn from no deeper than 300 metres, a mixture the association calls unusual anywhere in the world. Two public bathhouses, Kin-no-yu and Gin-no-yu, stand in the town. Sannomiya in central Kobe is about thirty minutes away by subway and local railway.
