Arima Onsen
nebi Arima
有馬温泉nebi
Katsushika Hokusai, Kajikazawa in Kai Province. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, CC0

nebi opens on 2 October 2026 on ground the inn describes as Arima’s former gateway. Its operator, Miyukiso, runs the ryokan Hanamusubi right next door. The building steps down the slope, giving each of the six suites a floor to itself; they run 73 to 94 sq m, all non-smoking, each with a mini kitchen.
Every room has its own open-air bath of 金泉 (kinsen), Arima’s iron- and salt-bearing gold spring, which the inn lists as a sodium chloride water, usable at any hour. Beside it are a private sauna, where you ladle your own water onto the stones, and an indoor tub doubling as a cold plunge. The bathing areas draw on the Six Views of Arima. There is no bathhouse here: guests may use the sister ryokan’s seventh-floor bathhouse, where the gold spring and the colourless 銀泉 (ginsen), or silver spring, both run.
Dinner is a full course the house calls 和洋懐石, Japanese-Western kaiseki, built on sea and mountain produce with the menu rewritten monthly and served in a semi-private room; breakfast is Japanese. Both are eaten at the sister inn’s dining room, Hanasanpo. Room-only and breakfast-only stays are sold too; an in-house pastry team runs a cafe-bar and sweet shops.
Check-in is 14:00, last arrival 19:30, check-out 11:00 — and arrivals are received next door, not here. Arima Onsen Station is about ten minutes’ walk, with a shuttle; parking is free. Children of 12 and under are not accommodated, as every room has a sauna.
Why we chose it
The gold spring reaches the rooms here. All six suites — one to a floor, 73 to 94 sq m — have their own open-air tub of kinsen, with a sauna and cold-plunge tub beside it and no fixed bathing hours. The trade-offs are set out plainly by the inn: there is no bathhouse of its own, so the communal baths, both meals and even check-in all happen at the sister ryokan next door.
