Arima Rokusai stands on high ground above the Arima hot spring town, behind Kobe. It is a Tokyu Harvest Club membership resort, but rooms are also sold publicly under the Hotel Harvest name.

Arima has two waters; this property draws both from its own sources. On the seventh floor the indoor tubs hold the silver spring, a simple carbon-dioxide cold mineral water; the open-air bath holds the gold, a sodium chloride strong salt spring. Neither is free-flowing: the water is heated, diluted and filtered on a loop. Bathing runs 6:00–24:00, closed 11:00–14:30 for cleaning. Two reservable family baths, Ichi-no-yu and Ni-no-yu, take the silver water: 3,300 yen an hour, booked ahead, one barrier-free. Some rooms have their own silver-water bath, which the hotel’s site calls free-flowing and a booking listing does not. Tattoos, stick-ons included, are refused in the large bath and the indoor pool; those guests are sent to a family bath or their room.

A hotel notice of 30 January 2025, still posted on a Japanese listing, says the gold source failed and the open-air bath was then running on silver, with no repair date. The hotel’s own pages still call it gold.

Three restaurants, rebuilt in July 2026: a trattoria and buffet, a sushi counter, and a course dining room with a kaiseki menu. No room service. Check-in 15:00, check-out 11:00. Fifteen minutes on foot from Arima Onsen Station, or a free shuttle on call, 9:00–18:00. Dogs and cats get their own rooms and a dog run.

Why we chose it

Arima’s two waters usually get flattened into one. This house keeps them apart and states which tub holds which: silver indoors and in the two reservable family baths, gold outdoors. It is equally plain about what it will not do — the water is not free-flowing, tattoos are refused in the large bath, there is no room service. That candour is worth more than a longer list of facilities.
